KFC’s MLS Fantasy Midfielders & Forwards Roundup – Week 33

I waited as long as I could for the USMNT roster to be released, but it’s not happened yet. So be sure to keep your eye on Twitter or r/FantasyMLS so you can see who may or may not be available. That’s really the big issue right now, you can maneuver around injuries and the bye weeks in Week 34, but only if you know who’s available. That being said, I”m going to move onto my offensive picks for this week.

If you want to see more, keep reading after the break. But please join the discussion at r/FantasyMLS, that’s where a lot of planning is made and last second decisions finalized. If you have questions, please stop by!

MIdfielders:

I’m just going to have to bite the bullet this week and actually recommend some of the top owned players. A lot of that has to do with the fact that there are 13 midfielders in the top 30 with an ownership of over 10%. So as long as we’re not talking about Mike Magee and Graham Zusi, we’ve got some options.

This week it seems to be all about Philadelphia, or maybe just anti Toronto. The top two prospects are Amobi Okugo (19.2% @ $7.3m)  and Sebastien Le Toux (16.1% @ $8.5m) and it really comes down to what play style you like more… oh and I guess budget. If you like the defender, it’s the consistent Okugo. If you want to hot and cold Offensive playmaker, it’s LeToux. Against Toronto, I don’t see Okugo getting many defensive opportunities, so my pick is Letoux.

My next pick is Brad Davis (14.6% @ $8.9m). I know he’s a risk for USMNT duty, but Houston is one of the teams that does not have a be week in Week 34, so if Davis does stay, you could get 2 good games out of him. Also, he’s one of the lower prices USMNT midfielders, so if you have to drop him next week, you should not have to worry about taking much of a point hit.

My final pick is Jonny Steele (6.8% @ $6.7m). I know that Cahill got the goal last week, I just find it hard to pass up the value that Steele provides and he keeps getting involved in the offense. He does have a bye in week 34 though, so if you just want a cheaper player to fill a spot, go ahead and grab Neagle.

Forwards:

If you’e not heard yet, Higuain missed practice today due to an illness. He’s definitely key for COlumbus to make the playoffs so they will be wanting him to be available, but he does have a bit of a question mark by him right now.

As usual, my top forward is Robbie Keane (23.9% @ $11.2m). He had several good looks last week and the one goal that was rightfully called back. The defeat will also make LA hungry, and Chivas is the perfect team to unleash that frustration on before heading off to the Irish national team (I’m going to assume). I plan to keep him for the rest of the season.

Next is Marco DiVaio (18.9% @ $9.4m). Montreal is playing an away game against Houston this week, but they also have the best away scoring record in the league and, as mentioned before, Houston has allowed 1 goal per game at home on average. Montreal is also playing in Week 34, so you don’t have to worry about trying to replace him soon.

Finally, this is where i would have said Higuain. I still think he is worth the risk since so much is on the line for Columbus, but if he’s not for you, I’d take a look at New England’s Saer Sene (1.3% @ $8.1m). He’s been on great form recently with 2 goals and 3 assists over the last 5 games and New England has one of the better away scoring records in the league. New York will be a hard game, but this differential it could pay off.
