Playtime Analysis 2016 – Round 20

Playtime Analysis 2016 - Round 20

Playtime Analysis is a weekly overview offering useful tips for the coming weeks about players that aren’t going to be getting their usual time on the pitch.  Whether it be value subs, injured stars, or international absences, you can find it here in Playtime Analysis.

Gleeson $4.7 POR: Bono is the big name cheap keeper to step up recently, but Gleeson owners will be happy to know the $4.7 starter looks to retain the job indefinitely as Kwarasey has transferred out of MLS.

Defenders: There is a lot of shakeup on defense this week with lots of new faces coming in the transfer window. Watch out for players losing starting spots or getting fewer minutes.

Diaz $11.4 DAL: Diaz is considered one of the premier forwards currently, but having played a midweek USOC game and having a bye on the schedule may hurt his viability for the next few rounds. He’s been rested at times this season to avoid playing multiple games in a single week. Playing conditions have also been a factor and Colorado’s altitude won’t help.

Espindola $10.0 VAN: It would be unwise to expect immediate results from the veteran following the transfer, but once he gets acclimated, he’s worth looking into. Keep his progression on the radar, since Vancouver is in desperate need of a primary striker this season.

Transfer Warning

Fabian Espindola has been sold to Vancouver by DC. DC United have acquired Patrick Mullins from New York City. Jose Aja (defender) will be on loan with Orlando City for the rest of the season. Columbus Crew SC have signed defender Nicolai Naess. David Edgar joins Vancouver as another defensive option. Vytautas Andriuškevičius has joined Portland as a new left back.  NYC has signed defender Maxime Chanot. TFC have signed Canadian forward Tosaint Ricketts.

Adam Kwarasey has transferred to Rosenburg from Portland.

Suspension and Yellow Card Warning

Currently only Alonso (SEA) and Ilsinho (PHI) are suspended. SJ’s Godoy and Quintero and Columubus’ Afful have all had their red card rescinded.

Keep an out for the updates on MLS’s Disciplinary Report page at http://www.mlssoccer.com/topic/discipline At the time of this publication, the list had not been updated.

Look Ahead

Round 22 will see RSL and TFC playing two games each with FCD and CLB on bye.

There are 12 free transfers left between now and Round 25 when 8 teams are on bye. At least one* player on your roster needs to be part of the Round 25 game week to avoid a -4.

*Banking a transfer decrease the required number by one.
