Playtime Analysis - 2016 Round 5

Playtime Analysis is a weekly overview offering useful tips for the coming weeks about players that aren’t going to be getting their usual time on the pitch.  Whether it be value subs, injured stars, or international absences, you can find it here in Playtime Analysis.

Gonzalez $6.0 DAL: The elephant in the room for round 6 and the DGW is whether youngster Jesse Gonzalez will get to start over Chris Seitz in one or both games. The obvious choice, especially if using a wildcard, is to make the swap to SKC’s Melia and save $.5. But for those with Gonzalez, the switch may not be wroth the transfer or the -4.

Abdul-Salaam $6.0 SKC: A huge differential pick heading into round six, but injuries to Ellis and Myers, who are confirmed out, leave a hole that the sophomore could easily fill. There are two potential FB pairings that could be seen Wednesday night, Sinovic/Dia or Dia/Salaam. Salaam provides a bit more on the attack than Dia.

Quintero $6.6 SJ: Quintero’s goal and attacking presence may cement his job as a starter with SJ. For the DGW, it wouldn’t be a stretch to see him start both games. With NY still missing CBs, SJ should be able to exploit their defense and the trip to Portland will grant several chances.

Akindele $7.6 DAL: With the DGW looming and Diaz still questionable, Akindele deserves a solid look. If Diaz is out for the first game, Akindele is a viable option for the round. The known producers are easy to call, but a cheaper differential may make the difference. Amarikwa may be the better overall pick, but if managers are looking for a second option at the price point, Akindele is the guy.
