Playtime Analysis – 2016 Round 6

Playtime Analysis is a weekly overview offering useful tips for the coming weeks about players that aren’t going to be getting their usual time on the pitch.  Whether it be value subs, injured stars, or international absences, you can find it here in Playtime Analysis.

Lampson $4.7 CHI: It’s getting hard to ignore Sean Johnson’s backup in Chicago. Lampson has started every game this season as Johnson recovers from an injury and is currently the 3rd highest scoring GK behind Shuttleworth and Melia. To make things even better, he’s the highest scoring GK overall when PKs bonuses are removed. The shaky Chicago defense has three shutouts in six games and provides plenty of save opportunities. I know it’s Chicago, but the numbers don’t lie. Two upcoming bye weeks leave him as a secondary choice, but still one to keep on the radar with DGWs in rounds 10 and 11.

Sinovic $7.0 SKC: Dia and Coelho have been two stalwarts all season for SKC, but that appears to be changing. After two shaky performances by the MLS sophomore, Sinovic is poised to regain the starting role. Dia has 11% ownership and looks like a good value heading into the next two DGWs, but his time is likely to be limited. If SKC has learned anything, it’s that Dia needs a break every now and then as he continues his adjustment to the professional game.

Loyd $7.6 DAL: It’s rare to feature two players at the same position, but Loyd cannot be left out this week.  With the announcement that Hedges is likely to miss 4-6 weeks, Loyd is up.  Without Hedges, he could be the highest scoring defender on the Dallas roster during this stretch, plus he’s a fair bit cheaper. The DGW in round 10 with little chance for rotation makes this a tempting pickup to match or rival Coelho’s value.

Jones $8.2 COL: Jones’ debut with Colorado was nothing short of spectacular and it’s bringing a lot of hype. No one should be banking on repeat performances, but the situation in Colorado does lend itself to Jones getting a few more impressive rounds. With both Pappa and Powers injured, Jones could be the main playmaker for Colorado for the time being. Value options like Cronin and Azira are still relevant and should be able to keep up the pace for a while longer.

Oduro $7.6 MTL: Oduro is making another appearance on this list. Many thought the return of Drogba would push Oduro out of the starting XI, but it was Venagas who made way for Drogba as Oduro moved to the right wing. He proceeded to play a beautiful ball in to assist Drogba’s goal. With a DGW in round 8 and mostly favorable matchups through round 10, don’t let him slide by without a serious look.
