Playtime Analysis – 2016 Round 8

Gleeson $4.5 POR: With Kwarasey out for several more weeks, it’s up to Gleeson to mind the goal. At $4.5 he’s a solid cheap option with DGWs in rounds 8 and 10. Although both Powell and Ridgewell are hurt, 4 of the next 6 games being at home make this pick an interesting value option, especially if using your WildCard.

Woodberry $5.0 NE: Woodberry came on for the injured Tierney last week after a non-contact hamstring issue. Usually these take 3-4 weeks to return to full fitness, so look to Woodberry as a cheap starting option during that time. With a DGW week this week, he’s one that’s going to be hard not to include in a roster.

Midfielder Returns: For a change of pace in round 8, several high impact midfielders are set to make their returns. Javier Morales converted from the PK spot as a second half sub while returning from injury. Pedro Morales of Vancouver has also been cleared to play and is expected to see time this week as part of the DGW. SKC’s Justin Mapp has also resumed full training and is rumored to be getting fit. With the injuries to the midfield and the performances of both Davis and Hallisey, Mapp may get significant minutes right away for a team that is in desperate need of more goals.

Saborio $7.7 DC: Despite limited minutes so far in 2016, 136 to be exact, Saborio has put up two impressive games. In a 47 minute appearance, he earn 9 points and in a 12 minute run against Vancouver, he scored twice on his way to 11 points. With Espindola hurt, he could be the big budget forward for the next several weeks. He may not contend with the DGW forwards, but at the price point, he’s definitely worth looking into.
