A new MLS season brings a host of new players to the league. While Luis Suarez will receive much of the attention, there are number of other recent signings who will hopefully prove to be fantasy relevant in 2024.
Amahl Pellegrion (San Jose Earthquakes)
Now 33, the winger has spent most of his career in Norway, including a recent spell at Bodo-Glimt where he won two Eliteserien titles.
With 49 goals over the past two seasons, Pellegrino should provide some much needed assistance to a Quakes frontline who were 13th out of 14 for goals scored in the Western Conference last year.
Emil Forsberg (New York Red Bulls)
A Swedish international midfielder, Forsberg managed six goals and four assists in his last full season with RB Leipzig, despite playing limited minutes.
At his peak Forsberg managed 18 assists in one Bundesliga season and will hopefully become an important creative option for the Red Bulls.
Pedro de la Vega (Seattle Sounders)
Arguably the most exciting signing of the new season, this addition is more about potential than previous achievements.
Six goals and five assists in his final year with Lanus aren’t huge numbers from a fantasy perspective but he looks like a young player who can achieve much more.
Hugo Cuypers (Chicago Fire)
The Fire spent big money to bring Cuypers from Gent, so a lot will be expected from their new forward.
He has 89 goal involvements from his last three years in Belgian football and could become an important fantasy asset if he forms a productive partnership with Xherdan Shaqiri.
Luis Muriel (Orlando City)
An already strong Orlando squad has been improved by the addition of Muriel. He joins after more than four years with Atalanta, which included an impressive 40 Serie A goals over 2019/20 and 2020/21.
Supported by Lodiero, Torres and (for the time being) Duncan McGuire, Muriel should be a regular scorer in 2024.
